Hot Import Nights 2011 Tour?

It finally happened. Hot Import Nights updated their website and what came out was an something that surprised everyone.

The original producer is back and taking control over the second coming of Hot Import Nights. I’m not sure what this means in regards to ownership of Hot Import Nights, or who the original producer is exactly, because there’s a few guys from the old HIN that have branched out, but there is a clue on the site which lists events that this producer has organized, which include Hot Import Nights, Night Shift, but also include XDC and REMIX Car Show, so I’m thinking that maybe its Mike Munar who leads XDC and I think also REMIX and has bought rights to Hot Import Nights or outright bought all the assets!

At the moment, who knows what happened, we’ll know in the coming days, but if I’m right, it looks like the new management has years of experience with car show events and good relations with the import tuner industry. Something the previous management was shown to have lacked from looking over what happend in their 2010 schedule.

Remembering back, it Looked like the owners wanted to move away from the import tuner crowd and move towards more of a football crowd. I really can’t figure out what they had in mind. I’m just thinking… they had bought a brand and they thought they could use it as a springboard to go after a new more lucrative market – mainstream beer drinking middle America.

Hot Import Nights 2011 Tour

This new vehicle was called Rivalry Nights that catered towards the football crowd which was cool, but then opening the shows on a weekday? That was crazy. Plus having the shows on the day of the football game? What the hell man. Moving the car show to appear mainly in the midwest and south basically told the West coast fans to F-off… and so was born the growth of new car shows from SpoCom, REMIX, XDC… slowly but surely, a hole was being filled by new car show events.

Like I said, it was just weird when I heard what the organizers were doing, but I still wanted to check it out because it was different. I like different. Problem was, California was basically cut off from the tour.

Then the youtube videos started to appear about trophies not being given and tour cancellations a few days before the car show. I think everyone hoped that these were just organizational problems, but it seemed to have been deeper than that.

Then silence… until today.

As I’m looking at the countdown on the HIN site, we have about 4 months before the new website appears. That’s around October or November, so does that mean we won’t have a Hot Import Nights event until November or December or is the 2011 schedule dead?

One show in 2011 guys, and make it in Los Angeles where it all began! Then Chicago early 2012! The two cities that were cancelled last year and disapointed a lot of people.

Exciting times!

Anyone have news whats going on or what happened?
