Wekfest 2012 Los Angeles Pictures!
Wekfest Los Angeles was sweet. I arrived early to get some easy parking. I thought paying $15 for parking sucked, but I liked the convenience parking right across the car show! Entered early and starting taking pictures but then I got hungry about 2 hours later and saw the food vendors. Damn. Just two were available – guys selling potatoes where the price looked reasonably, and the $10-14 burgers, pulled pork, ribs meals + $3 for a drink. Yea, I bought the pulled pork sandwich and a Fuji bottled water. It was decent, it filled my stomach. It just felt that I was ripped off. I hate that feeling every time I buy over priced food at a car show.
Saw that the line to get into Wekfest was hella long… just like last year. Hopefully the organizers open up another line to make things go faster next year. 3 ticket lines would be better!
The first few hours was taking car pictures with my standard lens. In the afternoon, I changed over to my telephoto to get some sweet looking bokeh – this is getting that creamy background you see on some of the pics I took. It’s been so long since I used my telephoto that I had practice a lot before getting used to it – which felt totally different from my regular lens. Also bought a new Marumi ND filter to decrease the amount of light coming into the lens, because man, the day started off as very overcast – the sky gray the entire morning. The sun came out in the afternoon and it became hot but not too hot due to the very nice breeze coming from the ocean.
So I was playing around most of the afternoon trying to get comfortable taking pictures with a telephoto lens. It was really fun, but the lens itself was heavy.
Walking to the It’s JDM Yo model lounge, got me a can of free NOS. I love NOS, especially when it’s FREE NOS! So just chilled by the booth and hung out because my feet hurt. Shit dudes, I looked at the inner souls of my shoes and I noticed holes – F~ that. I need some new comfortable walking shoes.
Stayed at Wekfest until 7:28. I like staying until the very end and take those last minute pictures, it was the best time to get those snap shots because the sun was setting and less people blocking my shots.
Check out the pics I took. You’ll notice a lot are overexposed and bright. Yea, I lean towards doing that all the time! Mainly due to laziness and not wanting to put hours of my time photo shopping each picture. That’s what computers are for – to do the batch work of over 300+ pictures!
Wekfest Los Angeles – had a good time. The weather was great, tons of cars and some import models were there like Jeri Lee!
