The FWY Series Coverage

April 25th, 2013

Take a look at The FWY Series car meet gallery photos!

Honda CRX

I was at the FWY Series car meet held at Toyota Pasadena over the weekend, where I saw an entire parking lot jammed full of modified cars and a groups of guys just hanging out under the 85+ degree weather. Yea. it was hot. Got sunburned even after I had lotioned myself up before driving down to Pasadena. It was all in all a good day as I went to The Habit where I ate a burger and a lot of water and Coke. Oye, I bought a Panasonic LX7 a few days ago when it was under $300 at Amazon. This was the first time I used it out in the field and will be using it more often in future outdoor car meets. The pictures look more than decent even though there isn’t much bokeh. Still need to get more in touch with the features. I’d like to get to the point where my hands naturally know what to do and where to go without consciously thinking about it.

Subaru BRZ and FR-S car show

Got home from 86Fest and took a shower, Fontana was really hot. Then what happened? As I was watching TV, I fell to sleep. Whaaaaaa. Yea, well, I just uploaded the photo gallery. The trip to 86Fest was really smooth, took about an hour to get there and paid my $10 bucks to enter the car show. Parked, and walked immediately to the restroom. Felt really good after holding it for a few minutes as I was drinking my bottle of water in the car. Came back out and just hung out. Checked out the food trucks. Noticed the Haleiwa shaved ice food truck was there and a few more. Later, I tried the Truck Norris food truck, and it was very good! I didn’t know what to think of a Hawaiian-Filipino fusion, but it came out very delicious. I ate it all, and I liked it! Tried a Haleiwa shaved ice before I left and that was sweeeet!

Well, the cars, a whole lot of AE86′s, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ all parked in one location. Insane. Oh yea, heard that a McLaren got smashed up at the neighboring event. At least the driver lived.

G35 Sedan Showcase Pictures!

Nissan Z picture

The news was constantly harping about carmageddon due to the closure of a stretch of the 405 from the 10 to the 101 over the weekend. Now most of the time, when I saw the news, it felt like the entire length of the 405 was going to be closed, which pissed me off. Entire news segments on how local businesses were going to be negatively effected and interviewing people who were going to stay home all day. This was a catastrophe for everyone!

So what happened when I woke up and drove to the G35 Sedan Showcase in Torrance from the westside of LA? Just like what happend last year, a very wide open highway. A nice Los Angeles drive south. I mean, what happens when you block people from the SFV driving south on the 405? You get a great drive! What happens to the local businesses on a weekend on the westside? Well, maybe most of their business is with the local residents?! It’s like when I have a craving for some Zankou Chicken on the weekend, do I go to Van Nuys where I usually go on the weekday because it used to be near my job? Hell no, I go to the Zankou place on the westside by the 405. That’s called using your freaking brain.

Yea, driving down to Torrance was heaven. Stayed at the G35 Sedan Showcase for 2-3 hours just chilling. Saw some… G35s… of course, thats the name of the meet right? A nice looking GT-R, a couple of BMWs, FR-S and BRZ were in attendance. Nice. Weather was around 80F, with a slight breeze from the Pacific; Torrance – hell ya! That’s what you get for being near the ocean.

I tried the L&L Hawaiian BBQ that was being served for $6. These guys were from the Gardena outlet. I gotta say that it was really good. Different from the other L&L places I’ve been to in southern California. I liked this better, it had that crisp BBQ taste to it unlike other L&L outlets. Might want to hit up that Gardena L&L place sometime in the future if it tastes the same like at G35 Sedan Showcase.

Really good event. Chilling with the cars and eating my chicken and rice, oh yea!
