The news was constantly harping about carmageddon due to the closure of a stretch of the 405 from the 10 to the 101 over the weekend. Now most of the time, when I saw the news, it felt like the entire length of the 405 was going to be closed, which pissed me off. Entire news segments on how local businesses were going to be negatively effected and interviewing people who were going to stay home all day. This was a catastrophe for everyone!
So what happened when I woke up and drove to the G35 Sedan Showcase in Torrance from the westside of LA? Just like what happend last year, a very wide open highway. A nice Los Angeles drive south. I mean, what happens when you block people from the SFV driving south on the 405? You get a great drive! What happens to the local businesses on a weekend on the westside? Well, maybe most of their business is with the local residents?! It’s like when I have a craving for some Zankou Chicken on the weekend, do I go to Van Nuys where I usually go on the weekday because it used to be near my job? Hell no, I go to the Zankou place on the westside by the 405. That’s called using your freaking brain.
Yea, driving down to Torrance was heaven. Stayed at the G35 Sedan Showcase for 2-3 hours just chilling. Saw some… G35s… of course, thats the name of the meet right? A nice looking GT-R, a couple of BMWs, FR-S and BRZ were in attendance. Nice. Weather was around 80F, with a slight breeze from the Pacific; Torrance – hell ya! That’s what you get for being near the ocean.
I tried the L&L Hawaiian BBQ that was being served for $6. These guys were from the Gardena outlet. I gotta say that it was really good. Different from the other L&L places I’ve been to in southern California. I liked this better, it had that crisp BBQ taste to it unlike other L&L outlets. Might want to hit up that Gardena L&L place sometime in the future if it tastes the same like at G35 Sedan Showcase.
Really good event. Chilling with the cars and eating my chicken and rice, oh yea!
