Hot Import Nights Manila – Day 2

April 24th, 2012

I slept great in my hotel overnight. I even woke up early to get the buffet breakfast included with my room. I even arrived more than an hour early to sit in front of the doors and just hangout at the front of the World Trade Center. The weather was fairly nice and I didn’t have anything else to do until HIN Manila, and I didn’t want to stay in my hotel room.

I thought of a majestic plan. I was going to focus on taking pictures of the cars before targeting the import models. To do that, I had to get there before the crowds inundated the car show floor. To do that, I had to be one of the very first people in the line. Ingenious. Damn I’m smart!

That early morning exuberance on my part was to be my undoing for the rest of the day at the car show.

As the doors opened and I was able to get into the hall and immediately taking car pictures at the right side of the hall, things were going as planned. There wasn’t a lot of people and taking pictures was going smoothly. I found out on the first day that because the crowd was packed, no one moved around photographers as we were taking pictures and unlike the import tuner car shows Stateside with their wide aisles. These aisles were very narrow. Something to improve upon for next year!

HIN Manila Day 1 Thoughts

April 9th, 2012

Report on Hot Import Nights Manila 2012. First Days Coverage.

Philippine car show

After eating at the hotel’s complimentary breakfast buffet, I had a few hours left before I had to go to the World Trade Center and watched some anime in my room. I was impressed. There were a few channels dedicated to only Anime. Around 11am in the morning, I had all my gear and went down to the lobby. There was a taxi parked outside of the glass door and I slipped right into the seat next to the driver.

“World Trade Center, please” I said. Then I started asking him to turn on the meter. At this point, the meter was at 300 pesos. The taxi didn’t move. The meter didn’t change. 300 pesos was still there. I kept on telling him, I want the meter on. After a few minutes of repeating that I wanted the meter, I was told flat out that he wouldn’t take me. Fine.

I got out and another taxi picked me up just as I left the first taxi.

Subic Bay Auto Show 3 on April 28

March 23rd, 2012

Posting the flyer to the Subic Bay Auto Show 3 that is going to be held on April 28 at.. well, Subic Bay, Olongapo! Posting a bit early, but support you all! I hear this time the car show is going to be held at the parking lot of Meat Plus and Freeport Exchange. It’s a pretty big parking lot. For some culture, just walk a few feet to the Spanish gate…! That’s history I tell you!

I was there last year so check out the Subic Bay Auto Show 2 gallery from last year!
