G35 Sedan Showcase Pictures!

October 1st, 2012

The news was constantly harping about carmageddon due to the closure of a stretch of the 405 from the 10 to the 101 over the weekend. Now most of the time, when I saw the news, it felt like the entire length of the 405 was going to be closed, which pissed me off. Entire news segments on how local businesses were going to be negatively effected and interviewing people who were going to stay home all day. This was a catastrophe for everyone!

So what happened when I woke up and drove to the G35 Sedan Showcase in Torrance from the westside of LA? Just like what happend last year, a very wide open highway. A nice Los Angeles drive south. I mean, what happens when you block people from the SFV driving south on the 405? You get a great drive! What happens to the local businesses on a weekend on the westside? Well, maybe most of their business is with the local residents?! It’s like when I have a craving for some Zankou Chicken on the weekend, do I go to Van Nuys where I usually go on the weekday because it used to be near my job? Hell no, I go to the Zankou place on the westside by the 405. That’s called using your freaking brain.

Yea, driving down to Torrance was heaven. Stayed at the G35 Sedan Showcase for 2-3 hours just chilling. Saw some… G35s… of course, thats the name of the meet right? A nice looking GT-R, a couple of BMWs, FR-S and BRZ were in attendance. Nice. Weather was around 80F, with a slight breeze from the Pacific; Torrance – hell ya! That’s what you get for being near the ocean.

I tried the L&L Hawaiian BBQ that was being served for $6. These guys were from the Gardena outlet. I gotta say that it was really good. Different from the other L&L places I’ve been to in southern California. I liked this better, it had that crisp BBQ taste to it unlike other L&L outlets. Might want to hit up that Gardena L&L place sometime in the future if it tastes the same like at G35 Sedan Showcase.

Really good event. Chilling with the cars and eating my chicken and rice, oh yea!

SmartWax and Chemical Guys Open House Pictures!

July 28th, 2011

Finally posting the SmartWax and Chemical Guys Open House experience!

I left home around 10:30 in the morning. I knew I was going to arrive to a packed parking lot. It didn’t help that I had to stop for gas and get some money from the ATM. So when I arrived at west 102nd street, I saw a sea of cars parked on both sides of the street. I was told to park on the south side, and from the looks of the small signs, it was illegal to park on the north side of the street.

So there I was driving the neighborhood looking for available parking. Nuts, place was packed full of cars. Finally drove back and found space on the… north side of the street. Yea. I figured if everyone else was doing it, I might as well do the same thing. Probably won’t get caught too!

First thing I saw when I entered the compound were guys taking pictures of an Asian import model. Forgot who she was, it takes me a long time to remember model names. Looked like she was popular, so there I go, I went to the thick of the guys and started taking my own pictures.

Once that was over, I just walked around and chilled as I took pictures of the cars, go-go dancers, models, bikini contest, then cars, then back to the girls.

Then I heard some kind of announcement about parking police an cars parked on the north side, and oh shit. I figured I might as well look for a better spot. Drove across the street and found parking real quick. Guess some guys already went home. So I parked and went back and took more pictures. Ate some tacos and Chili Willys.

Food was good and the price was reasonable!

All in all, it was a great open house! Thanks SmartWax and Chemical Guys! Hope you guys do another open house back next year!

July 10 – Extreme Autofest / Lowriderfest car show picture gallery part 2

July 12th, 2011

The second Extreme Autofest / Lowriderfest picture gallery has been posted! So how was the car show in San Diego? I liked it. Drove down from Los Angeles to check it out.

Left LA early and the highway was smooth. Traffic was very light all the way down to Qualcomm stadium. The will call line was long as usual. Take it from past experience, if you pay cash at the car show, there should be an available ticket window that is never busy. That’s a good incentive to wait until the day of Extreme Autofest and just pay at the door, and you basically bypass the first long line. The second long line is the one for the car show! You know what I mean if you’ve been to Extreme Autofest. If you don’t know, you gotta experience it!

When I got in, Extreme Autofest was already packed, and it was only noon. Immediately took pictures starting on the left side and put on my big hat to cover myself from the sun.

American cars

What’s cool about Extreme Autofest is that its a mix of lowriders, muscle cars, modified cars and classics.
