Finally had some time to write something about the So-Cal Summer Daze car show from last month. Drove down to the City of Industry and immediately took pictures. Got there early, just a few minutes after it opened so I figured I had a lot of times on my hands. I think the car show was supposed to end at 7, so yea… I was casually focusing on car pictures.

I was smart and ignored the girls because I figured I can start taking pictures of the models closer to when the sun goes down later in the day. Yea, I had it all planned. I was smart… I thought.

Immediately so the food trucks and there were 3, I think one was Mexican food, the other Japanese and the third was Malaysian. Bought a chicken satay from the Malaysian one and it damn pretty good! I’d go there again, but they frequent mainly the Orange County area. Well, hope to see Mama again! The name kind of put me off at first but I’m glad I bought that chicken satay that included really good rice.

Now So-Cal Summer Daze itself was very chill. Just walking around and taking pictures was fun and relaxing. Met some friends and forgot about the real world of responsibilities and just relaxed.

Then came 4pm. Cops came in and basically closed down the car show event. What the hell man. I think it was because some of the cars were parked on another property. Yea, so I stayed a few minutes until the majority of the crowd were leaving and the vendors were closing up shop.

As I was leaving, the cops were video taping everyone as they drove off from the lot. Damn. What the hell man. That was basically it. I didn’t get a chance to get enough import model pictures which sucks, but the day was fun…. minus the cops showing up and closing the car show 3 hours early.

Posted the first Nisei Showoff 2011 car show pictures!

So how was it? Pretty good. If you’ve been to the Nisei car show previously, then you know its geared towards the cars and as an aside, a few import models. So I left early and found easy parking by Senor Fish right across the Japanese American Museum. Cost me $6.50 to park there all day. Last year I arrived a few hours late and I was looking for parking for a long time. Didn’t like it much, so that’s why I left home early this time.

Ate some tacos at Senor Fish because I was there early and Nisei car show wasn’t open yet. Just chilled. Then I just walked across the street to Honda Plaza and just wandered around. Finally found myself at the front of the Japanese American Museum just watching everyone as the vendors were sitting up their booths.

Been cleaning my camera and charging my batteries for tomorrow’s Wekfest in Long Beach. Since I have some time, I thought I’d post my report from the itsJDMyo! car meet that was held a few weeks ago at the Power Toyota warehouse in Cerritos.

One thing you need to know. This wasn’t a small car meet in a lot somewhere held at night. Naw, it felt more like a small car show. Hell, a lot of the guys who attended Hellaflush at Venice Beach earlier in the morning caravaned to this meet. When I got there around 1PM, I had a hard time finding parking and finally found a spot by the park that was on the next street. That was a long walk.

When I arrived… man the crowd was insanely big! What car meet? This was a free car show! Big turnout as I saw all sorts of cars from American, European, Japanese and Korean makes all over the show floor… and on the streets trying to find parking! Yea, a car show because it had everything that you’d expect from one! Check it out… like…

Yea, there was at least 3 food trucks – Dogzilla and… I forgot the other two. Those hotdogs from Dogzilla were really good! Guys need to be invited to all car shows! Too bad there was no ice cream truck because it was hot all day long.

Music was blaring from a couple hot big ass speakers and a real live DJ was mixing.

Vendors were strategically located and giving out free stuff. NOS was in attendance giving out free samples with some hot NOS promo models! Come on… NOS = car show right? It’s legit.

Modified cars from brands all over the world were being shown.

And last but not least… hot import models were autographing their names, selling their pictures and posing for the mob of photographers.

Finally got off from the office and started working on the pictures I took at the New Dimension car show presented by Longo Scion at Toyota Speedway, in Irwindale, on September 12! So I drove less than an hour to Irwindale from Long Beach after I attended the Japanese Classic Car Show earlier that morning.

One thing about Irwindale, it was bloody hell hot! I think it was around 95 degrees Fahrenheit. First thing I did when I got at the New Dimension car show was to get some food, then walked around and got some free NOS, and then walked around some more and took more pics and then… went back to the vendors and bought one of those shaved ice. Took a few more pictures and ohh, there were a couple of hot looking Asian import models.

Walked lazily over to the group of photogs and just snapped my camera. At this point, I just took a picture of the girls without checking my camera settings. I didn’t care man, it was F@@N hot out there. I looked at the pictures I took of the girls and yea… the pictures came out really bad, but you know, I kept them. What the hell.

I walked to my car and blasted the aircon and just relaxed for a few minutes in the car. Then I drove out of the parking lot.

Longo Scion put up a good car show, a lot of Scion’s every where you looked, and I guess there was a drag race right next to the car show. Didn’t see that, but I sure hell heard the engines roaring near the stands. The guy on the mike was hella funny. Keep that due for next year! We need more Filipino jokes!

I’m actually thinking of going. Here’s my sketchy plan. Go to the Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach for a few hours in the morning and drive all the way to Irwindale around noon. I’m thinking I’ll get to Irwindale around 1 or 2pm and take a few hundred pictures!

I’m taking off for the Labor Day Weekend. I’ll be updating the site next week when I get back to Los Angeles! Oye, I’ll probably bring my laptop with me so I can post stuff on the site as I lay about watching TV and drinking some coke as I check out some more car shows on the Internet.
