Nisei Showoff Car Show Pictures at Little Tokyo!

August 12th, 2012

I arrived at Little Tokyo early. It was closer to 9am than 9:30 when I parked at the parking lot by Senior Fish. Parking was only $6.50 which I thought was a great deal. This lost is basically right across from the car show! The few hours of free time I had was just walking around Little Tokyo and taking a few pictures of the surrounding area. It went something like this… walk… walk… walk… walk… oooohh, that’s a Buddhist temple across the street – click…. walk…. walk… walk…. ohhh cool, a sign for a ramen restaurant – click… and on it went. Then I stopped by the little plaza and ate something from the bakery as I watched everyone setting up for Nisei week visitors.

Meet some buddies one by one as they arrived early also. One thing you gotta do is come early because parking is really messed up in the afternoon. Now let me tell you about the heat. In the morning it was around 85 degree, as the day moved on, I seriously think it went over 100 degrees and kept on going to the boiling point. I’m so glad the price for a water bottle was only $2 and we were able to re-enter Nisei Showoff.

So after a few hours of taking pictures of the cars, I walked out and went towards Senior Fish. It was OK, I should have bought a burrito instead of the taquitos, because these were seriously small.

Rest of the day, I just walked around – but that sun was on me like it was deliberately trying to kill me. It was hot that day at Little Tokyo. If you were at autocon, it was just like that, but hotter!

Now Nisei Showoff has always been about the cars. So I was expecting a few import models to show up…. but not too much, just a few, and I was right. Let me see, there was Sandra Wong, Ryan Osco, Lena Love, Marissa Hiroko and a couple more I didn’t get the names. That was basically it for the import models. But you know, there was a lot of hot girls walking around that could have been import models! Damn.

Well, I was surprised when I saw some American classics on the ground. I was like – wooow, what are these cars doing here? It was cool, I took the pictures. It was surprising because I didn’t expect to see Classic cars at Nisei Showoff.

That heat… it was a killer. I left around 5pm and went to the Yogurtland right next of Office Depot and stayed there for a bit. Relaxing with the A/C as I chugged my frozen yogurt. Now that cooled me down!

Now when you look at the pictures, there all freaking bright or looks like there over exposed. That’s how it looked at Nisei Showoff! It was intentional. I wanted to show how it felt in 100 degree weather without no clouds above us. The clouds… yea the freaking clouds. They were there but so far away – like they were teasing us. I’m glad I brought my farmers hat with the wide brim because I think I would have been blind after the end of the car show.

You know what would have been better? If Nisei Showoff and Infamous were on different days! What’s going!

Motion Auto Show 2011 Pictures – Gallery 1

August 22nd, 2011

Dude, Motion Auto Show 2011 that was held at the Long Beach Convention Center on August 21 was a blast. I’m just sorry that there’s only one show a year! Hell, there should be two! One at the Long Beach Convention Center at the end of the year and one at the LA Convention Center or Anaheim Convention Center at the beginning of the year!

So how was it? Like I said, it was sweet.

So I arrived early and parked right across the street of the convention center and received my media pass. Yea for the media pass! I was able to enter early and started taking some car pictures before the car show began. Glad I had that time to just hang out and focus on the cars because when the doors opened, things got hella crazy with the girls, the events, and seeing and talking with all the buddies at Motion Auto Show.

Nisei Showoff 2011 Car Show Pictures – Gallery 1

August 15th, 2011

Posted the first Nisei Showoff 2011 car show pictures!

So how was it? Pretty good. If you’ve been to the Nisei car show previously, then you know its geared towards the cars and as an aside, a few import models. So I left early and found easy parking by Senor Fish right across the Japanese American Museum. Cost me $6.50 to park there all day. Last year I arrived a few hours late and I was looking for parking for a long time. Didn’t like it much, so that’s why I left home early this time.

Ate some tacos at Senor Fish because I was there early and Nisei car show wasn’t open yet. Just chilled. Then I just walked across the street to Honda Plaza and just wandered around. Finally found myself at the front of the Japanese American Museum just watching everyone as the vendors were sitting up their booths.
